A+A Düsseldorf 2025 – Key Workwear Trends and PPE Manufacturing

A+A Düsseldorf 2025 – Key Workwear Trends and PPE Manufacturing

A+A Düsseldorf once again confirmed its position as the world’s leading trade fair for occupational safety, health and workwear. The 2025 edition was even larger than the previous show in 2023, spanning 17 major exhibition halls and welcoming more than 2,300 exhibitors from across the global PPE and workwear sector.

Held every two years, with the next event scheduled for October 2027, A+A continues to set the direction for how workwear brands design, develop and manufacture products that must balance protection, performance, comfort and compliance.

For Dishang, the show provided valuable insight into where the sector is heading and reinforced several strategic priorities for the years ahead.

A Global Platform for Workwear Innovation

From a workwear perspective, the dominant themes were clear. Fabric innovation, sustainability, digital product passports and textile-to-textile recycling featured heavily across the show floor and within technical discussions.

A+A also remains an unrivalled opportunity to connect with existing customers and new target brands from around the world, helping to shape Dishang’s ongoing strategy for the workwear sector.

This year marked an important step forward, with Dishang Group exhibiting at the show, allowing the UK team to work closely with colleagues from the Weihai, China Head Office and align on a clear, structured plan for strengthening Dishang’s position within global workwear manufacturing.

Sustainability Moves from Concept to Compliance

Sustainability is no longer an optional conversation in workwear; it is becoming a regulatory requirement. Across the show, brands demonstrated tangible progress in textile-to-textile recycling.

The conversation has clearly shifted from ambition to execution. For manufacturers and brands alike, the challenge now lies in scaling these solutions without compromising durability, compliance or cost; particularly in demanding PPE environments.

Digital Product Passports

One of the most significant takeaways from A+A 2025 was the growing urgency around Digital Product Passport (DPP) compliance.

Some leading workwear brands are already compliant, while others are actively preparing for the introduction of mandatory minimum DPP requirements in 2027, with more comprehensive circular passports expected by 2033. This legislation requires every component of every garment (fabric, trims, CM and supply chain processes) to be fully traceable back to source, allowing CO₂ impact to be assessed throughout the product lifecycle.

For Dishang, this reinforces the importance of robust digital systems, traceability platforms and supplier transparency, ensuring customers are supported as regulation tightens across Europe and beyond.

Fabric Innovation: Cross-Pollinating Sportswear and Workwear

A major opportunity identified at the show lies in exclusive fabric development for workwear. There is clear potential to cross-pollinate innovation from the sportswear sector – where Dishang already has deep expertise – into workwear applications.

As workwear continues to evolve beyond purely functional garments, the ability to combine technical compliance with modern aesthetics and wearer comfort is becoming a key differentiator.

Key Design and Product Trends from the Show

Several product-level trends stood out across the halls:

Heated Garments

Rechargable battery-powered heated clothing from brands such as Snickers, Blåkläder and Milwaukee demonstrated how warmth can be delivered without bulk, improving comfort in extreme working environments.

Stretch and Ergonomic Design

Four-way stretch, knitted fabrics replacing traditional wovens, and jersey inset panels were widely used to enhance mobility and reduce fatigue.

Modular Design

Interchangeable, detachable and customisable components reflected the growing demand for versatility and longer garment lifecycles.

Leisurewear and Outdoor Influence

Borg and sherpa fleeces, bonded quilting and contemporary panelling showed how outdoor aesthetics continue to influence workwear design.

Heritage and Utility Styling

Denim, corduroy, plaid checks, chore jackets and dungarees highlighted a renewed appreciation for heritage workwear, re-engineered with modern fabrics and features.

Concealed Functionality

Concealed detachable tool pockets, expandable jackets with mesh inserts, laser-cut ventilation and subtle branding balanced performance with cleaner, more modern silhouettes.

What This Means for Dishang and Our Partners

A+A 2025 reinforced the importance of clear strategy, digital readiness and fabric innovation for manufacturers serving the workwear sector.

For Dishang, the priority is clear:

  • To support customers in achieving DPP compliance by 2027
  • To invest further in exclusive workwear fabric development
  • To leverage sportswear innovation in compliant PPE applications
  • To continue strengthening digital systems for traceability and transparency
  • To collaborate closely with brands on future-proofed workwear solutions

By combining UK-based development expertise with global manufacturing scale, Dishang is well positioned to support brands navigating the next phase of workwear evolution.
